WiNc Meet-up: Community Organizing in the Digital Age

There are many ways to be an advocate, but sharing a common policy agenda with a like-minded community is one of the strongest ways to be effective. In an age when so much of our time is spent online, how do we turn likes and supportive comments into a coalition of people working toward a common vision? The discussion will focus on relational organizing, social media, and effective resources and tools used in organizing both in person and online.

WiNc Meet-up: Protesting 101 Self Care

Using advocacy skills “on the line” can be one of the most exciting ways to use our voices and get the message out. Protesting is both a necessary and effective way to influence policy. It does not come without risks though. We will discuss the internal process of preparing and participating in a protest from deciding what you are able or willing to risk to knowing what rights you have if find yourself arrested. An emphasis will specifically be placed on how important it is to engage in self-care and self-reflection.
